Summary :
The workshop will seek to define how new educational content on solutions that are more respectful of humans and the environment can be incorporated into training courses for conservators, physicists, chemists and instrumentalists in Europe. It will focus on new developments in chemistry and digital decision-making tools. The workshop will bring together a multidisciplinary international panel of experts in green conservation-restoration, teaching and pedagogy, including chemistry and environmental sciences. In this context, we will bring together the main institutions involved in training conservators (Courtauld, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, University of Amsterdam) as well as institutions in which scientific departments are developing specific training activities based on art conservation objectives and practices (e.g. ENS Paris-Saclay, University of Amsterdam, University of Bologna). The workshop is part of the activities developed by the DIM’s Research and Restoration Working Group. It is also part of the European GoGreen consortium, which is currently developing environmentally-friendly solutions to protect cultural heritage. As part of this project, training modules will be developed on ecological leadership in conservation-restoration, the determination of material sensitivities, ecological treatments and their evaluation, and ecological decision-making tools.
