Summary :
Infrared spectroscopy is a powerful tool for characterizing heritage materials, capable of providing information on preparation techniques as well as on their ageing, and of observing both their inorganic and organic components, and their mutual interactions in composite materials. The IRoperando project purports to acquire a state-of-the-art IR spectrometer which will be entirely dedicated to heritage-type applications, in the framework of collaborations between laboratories of the Ile-de-France region. It has the unique specificity of integrating an in situ pre-treatment ramp, allowing thermal treatments of samples under a controlled atmosphere, and therefore reproducing “real world” conditions of synthesis and evolution.
